Five-Color Clay is a type of symbiotic sand, found within the interlayers of raw purple sand Duanni. It is one of the rare raw ore purple clay materials, sourced from Huanglong Mountain in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. After firing, it exhibits a beige tone. The clay contains relatively large particles and has a loose structure, resulting in a distinct double-porosity formation in the finished ware. This allows for smooth air convection. The optimal firing temperature ranges from approximately 1175 to 1180 degrees Celsius, with a shrinkage rate of about 12%. It is suitable for brewing a wide variety of teas, generally offering excellent breathability.
