Original Duan Clay, traditionally known as "Old Tuan Clay", is mined from the original ore veins of Huanglong Mountain in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. The raw ore appears off-white in color with distinctive dark green speckles. In addition to being used as the primary material for pottery bodies, it can also be ground and sieved into fine particles for sand-mixing techniques to create textural effects.
After firing, it develops a subtle duckling-yellow hue with occasional reddish speckles. The clay contains relatively large particles and a loose structure, resulting in a distinct double-pore formation within the pottery body. This allows for excellent air circulation.
With prolonged use, the teapot gradually reveals its hidden elegance and undergoes remarkable transformation, making it an exceptional material for nurturing teapots. It is also an excellent choice for brewing tea.
