In the early 1990s, during the excavation for the "Taodu Road Construction Project" connecting Dingshan to Yixing, workers accidentally uncovered a portion of raw purple clay ore. This clay was later named "Jiangpo Ni" (Slope-Reducing Clay). The discovery of this clay was purely accidental, and its reserves were limited, making it one of the high-quality clay varieties.
After processing, Jiangpo Ni exhibits a rich, vintage character with a yellowish-orange hue that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Once seasoned through use, it develops an even more pronounced antique charm, closely resembling the clay used during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
